SDPI DEMANDS THOROUGH PROBE IN RECENT EVM TEMPERING ALLEGATIONS
New Delhi: Reacting to new revelation about EVM use in the country by a London based techy Shuja SDPI demands thorough serious probe in to the matter. SDPI National President M K Faizy said in a press statement that charges leveled by Mr. Shuja are of serious nature including allegation of murder of Gopinath Munde, BJP minister, Smt. Gauri Lankesh Activist, Thanseel Ahmed NIA officer and two colleagues of Mr. Shuja only because they were either aware of the hacking or involved in it. He said that largest democracy like India has to be sensitive to such allegations particularly when the entire opposition is casting aspersions over the tamper proof claim made by government and Election Commission of India. Rejection of the allegations by the government and the election commission immediately after the revelation shows non seriousness of ruling machinery towards democratic process of the nation. It has been noted many a times that at various booths EVMs were faulty and polling has to be stopped for hours. Mr. Faizy reminded that in Assam all votes were going to a particular party in 2014 elections for which a riots was erupted there.
He said in such a largest Democracy where crores of voters participate, we must be very cautious about its perfection and flawlessness. It is the duty of the state to engage with even slightest of doubt raised by any concerned voters. He criticised election commission move to file an FIR against Mr. Shuja because he revealed some secrets that can be true. He also criticised ruling party allegations taunting on the presence of a Congress leader in that press conference as this must not be taken as scoring brownie points on the political front while the transparency of democratic process is at stake. Faizy said world’s major democracies and technologically advanced countries has already rejected the concept of electronic voting a country like ours too has to review this system. He also demanded counting of at least 40% of VVPAT to ensure correctness and free and fair poll.
Moreover it is dreadful to not that several incidents of cold blooded murders are coming into light where government, police and ruling parties are under the shadow of doubt, Faizy added.
