SDPI criticizes Pragya Thakur’s nomination to parliamentary defence panel as against basic principles of democracy

New Delhi, 22nd Nov 2019: New Delhi: The Social Democratic Party of India, (SDPI), has criticized the move to nominate BJP MP Ms. Pragya Thakur, an accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case and currently on bail, to the parliamentary consultative committee on defence as against basic principles of democracy..

SDPI national president M. K. Faizy said it is very regrettable that Ms Thakur, who had courted controversies with her remarks on a number of occasions, is made a be part of the 21-member committee headed by Defence  Minister Rajnath Singh.

Faizy recalled that Ms Thakur had called Naturam Godse, who had killed Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi,  a “deshbhakt” (patriot). He was hanged  founding him responsible for committing a heinous crime,  Even Narendra Modi the Prime Minister deplored her  statement as   disgusting and unfit for civilised society. But strangely she has been  nominated to an important parliamentary  panel, he pointed out.  Such acts of the government sends a very wrong message to the encourage bomb makers, rioters and assassins.
