RELEASE PAPPU YADAV IMMEDIATELY – SDPI

New Delhi, 12th May 2021: MK Faizy, National President of Social Democratic Party of India has strongly decried the arrest of Jan Adhikar Party leader Pappur Yadav in Bihar and demanded his immediate release.  Arrests, raids and witch-hunt are the current weapons in the hands of the NDA governments, that they use to stifle and tame the dissenting voices; and the arrest of Pappu Yadav too is part of the same exercise, said Faizy.

Yadav is said to have been arrested for violating lockdown norms following a ruckus alleged to have been created by him at the nearby Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) early in the morning. The support that Yadav gets from the ruling NDA partners in Bihar itself testifies the impropriety of his arrest. The actual cause of arrest is said to be his spat with Rajiv Pratap Rudy, the sitting BJP MP from Sarin. Yadav had recently accused Rudy of having “hoarded” a number of unused ambulances at a property owned by the latter.

He was later taken away to Madhepura in connection with a 32 years abduction case, a non-bailable warrant of which is said to have been issued by a court at Madhepura two months ago.

SDPI views the arrest of Pappu Yadav highly condemnable, and so strongly urges the Nitish government to release him immediately, said Faizy. He also offered full support to Yadav in all his activities that he is engaged in for the people of Bihar.
