New Delhi, 14 Feb 2017: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has announced its official support to the SP-Cong Alliance in the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls. The UP unit of SDPI organized a mega conference at Kanpur City. The main guest in the program was Congress leader and former Union Coal Minister (UPA) Prakash Jaiswal and was participated by several national and state leaders of Congress and Samajwadi Party. During the program, SDPI Vice President Adv. Sharfuddin announced the party’s support to the SP-Cong alliance in order to defeat the communal and fascist forces and keep them away from capturing the throne in Uttar Pradesh and be a majority in Rajya Sabha in anyway. He said, SDPI has always opposed to the BJP government’s communal, caste and religion based politics and we have joined hands with SP-Cong alliance to defeat the communal BJP and not let it undermine the virtues of our country including the “unity in diversity” by implementing the anti-people policies and draconian laws.
While addressing the participants Congress leader and former Union Coal Minister Prakash Jaiswal said, I wholeheartedly acknowledge and thank SDPI for its support to the SP-Cong Alliance. He said, I appreciate the decision of supporting the alliance by SDPI to keep the communal and fascist elements away from the power in UP and this move seemingly would make the way clear towards the formation of an allied government in the state.
Vice President Adv. Sharfuddin in his address to the gathering in the program alleged that post destructive demonetization the BJP is facing elections in 5 states with deceptive tactics. SDPI has been taking part in elections across the country and has also bagged several seats in municipal corporations in different states. BSP and JD(S) parties had contested assembly and parliamentary elections with the alliance of SDPI. He said, since Modi’s takeover of the reigns at the Centre, our country’s invaluable attribute ‘unity in diversity’ is at stake and desperate attempts are underway to implement the saffron agenda by subverting dalits, muslims, adivasis and all other backward and weaker sections of the society. BJP has always practiced its fascist agenda in Uttar Pradesh and the BSP has patronized it.
With regards to the UP elections, Adv. Sharfuddin expressed dismay as the BJP would resort to enforce anti-people policies and draconian laws by being a majority in Rajya Sabha, if at all the secularists do not join hands with and unitedly oppose the Sangh.
The leaders present in the conference from SP-Cong and SDPI were Samajwadi Youth Brigade President and Arya Nagar Assembly Candidate Amitabh Bajpai, SP Former Secretary Moin Khan,
Cong Cantt Assembly Candidate Suhail Ansari, Cong Kanpur Dist Prez Mahesh Dixit, SP Kanpur Dist Prez Chandresh Singh and SP-Yuvjan Sabha State Secretary Ashu Khan.
