Brutal Assault On Dalit Couple In MP Heinous and Inhumane – SDPI

MK Faizy, the national president of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has stated that the brutal assault by police on a Dalit couple in Jagatpur Chak area of Guna district in Madhya Pradesh was a heinous and inhumane act, and strongly condemned the police high-handedness and abuse of power.

Police was mercilessly assaulting a distressed Dalit couple who consumed pesticide on seeing their standing crop destroyed by the revenue authorities and police using bulldozer. The police brutally assaulted the couple’s kin too who tried to save them. When the Dalit couple’s kids tried to rush to save their parents, the weeping kids were verbally abused and pushed away by the police.

The revenue authorities were on to evict a public land, allotted for construction of a Model Science College, which has been used by the Dalit family since long for farming. Police didn’t heed the plea of the family to wait until the standing crop is harvested. District Police, instead of acting against the cops, was charging case under 353, 141, 309 of IPC against seven people, including the couple.

Meanwhile Faizy appreciated the immediate intervention of the Chief Minister in the issue and the action against the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police. He hoped that the disciplinary action wouldn’t be a gimmick.

India under the rule of extreme right-wing fascists has turned out to be a land where the downtrodden, weaker sections and the minorities are denied any privileges, commented Faizy.

He demanded that the authorities should ensure that the victims in this incident get justice and the policemen involved in the heinous act are punished exemplarily.
