States Decision of Public Exam for 7th Std is Unscientific. : SDPI

The state governments decision of conducting public examination for 7th standard is unscientific which impacts badly on the future of the children and on their learnings, said Elyas Muhammad Thumbe, state president of Social Democratic Party of India, Karnataka.

Before taking such major decision the education minister of the state shall consult with several educationists, pedeo-psychological experts, social specialists and primary teachers and respect their opinions. While taking decision by the minister in imposing competition in the education on young children, it’s clearly visible that the education minister has despised realistic major factors like promoting wisdom of the children, empowerment of psychological vertebration, inculcating natural interest in learning, etc. Judging eminence of the children on the basis of marks evolves inferiority and apathy in the children who hails from diverse background.
The other important factors which impacts on learnings of the primary school children like economical backwardness, poor school infrastructure, lack of teaching skills, domestic scenario, slow learning attitude in most children, cast and religious discrimination embedded in the society, etc are to be seriously considered.

The young children will disgust about themselves when they get less marks or fail in the public exam in 7th standard. They may fell apathy on education in their such an early age when they are compelled to compare themselves with other children who secured higher marks. Education is not a competition. It is a process of contemplation about civilization, society and science.

Hence, Elyas Muhammad Thumbe said that the state government shall shun the decision of conducting public exams to 7th standard and continue the policy of “Not to Fail” the children up to 7th standard. He emphasised that the government shall give more focus and importance on school standard, excellent teaching skills of the teachers and expletive learning atmosphere in the society.
