Party’s Dakshina Kannada leadership has warned the state government of district-wide agitations if the alleged Sangh Parivar killers are not detained
Bangalore, 21 June 2017: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) State General Secretary Abdul Majeed condemned the brutal murder of a social activist Ashraf Kalai in Bantwal of Dakshina Kannada District. Ashraf, the deceased was actively involved in extending social services to the poor and was known to be a promoter of secularism in different religious circles.
Ashraf, SDPI Ammunje’s Zonal Unit President, participated in the flag-hoisting ceremony on the occasion of the Party’s Foundation Day on 21st June. The very day morning, Ashraf with other party workers was engaged in filling potholes with stones on Kalayi road, which had become nuisance to the passersby.
Ashraf, an auto rikshaw driver, was asked by a gang to take them to Benjanapadavu on hire. Upon reaching the destination, he was brutally assaulted by lethal swords killing him on the spot. The murder is a perfectly planned act by the communal goons. It is to be noted that the Sangh Parivar has been busy plotting to create communal riots during elections and minority festivals which have led to communal tension and several murders. Recently there has been unrest in Coastal Karnataka due to communal disharmony. The Karnataka Cabinet Ministers have openly stated that the RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar is directly responsible for the riots. Non-arrest and punishment to the seer of hatred Kalladka Prabhakar, who has a dozens of criminal cases against him, is the main reason that the coastal region witnesses communal unrest very often. In order to establish permanent peace in the Coastal Karnataka, which enjoys a fame for quality of education, health and commerce, Hindu, Muslim and Christians and other communities should join hands and work together continuously. SDPI, along with Police Department and peace loving citizens has been at actively playing its role in creating and maintaining a harmonious atmosphere in the region.
The Party State General Secretary Abdul Majeed urged the authorities to immediately arrest the killers of Ashraf and charge them under stringent IPC sections. Non-punishment to the goons of Sangh Parivar is the main reason for frequent murders in the region. SDPI appeals to the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to immediately release a compensation of Rs. 30 lakhs to the family of the deceased.
In a press statement the Party’s Dakshina Kannada district leadership held it’s the failure of the district police administration and warned the state government of district-wide agitations in case the police department fails arresting the alleged murderers of Sangh Parivar hooligans responsible for killing an innocent.
