Kolkata: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), which is a part of GANA Front has fielded 8 candidates in the upcoming assembly elections in the state, said SDPI State President Tayed ul Islam in a press statement. He said, a total of 57 candidates are being fielded by the GANA Front.

Tayed further said, there are 5 candidates from Murshidabad district, namely, Dr Affan Ali from Samserganj, Dr. Mujibur Rehman from Raghunath Ganj, Md Shahabuddin from Lalgola, Badrul Shaikh from Sagordighi, Abu Taleb Hossain from Nowda, Fajlur Rehman from Palashipra (Nadia), Najma Koyal from Shantipur and SDPI’s State General Secretary Prof. Dr. Md. Afsar Ali from Harishchandrapur (Malda).
We hope that the CPM-Congress alliance will get the majority and the GANA Front will extend its support to this alliance as the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress Government has not lived up to the expectations of the people. He said, our fight is to keep the TMC and fascist forces at bay.

It is to be noted that the GARANA Front was floated about 2 years ago, is an alliance of 8 political parties joined hands in West Bengal to fight fascist forces and give the people an alternative political platform. The front comprises of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Welfare Party of India (WPI), Republican Party of India (RPI), Pashchim Bangal Tantrik Manch (PGBM) and Bharatiya Nou Vichar Party (BNVP).
