Auto Trade Union demanded stringent action against the killers of auto-driver Ashraf Kalayi Mangalore
Mangalore, 04 July 2017: Social Democratic Trade Union (SDTU) Mangalore District Unit held a protest demonstration in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner against the police inactiveness in appropriate and sound investigation in the murder case of Ashraf Kalayi, an auto-rikshaw driver, who was allegedly murdered by Sangh Parivar goondas in the early hours of 21 June 2017 by lethal weapons.
SDTU Mangalore District President Mohammed Kamal said, the murder of the deceased was one of a series of deaths which have been the result of ongoing hatred agenda of Sangh Parivar. Though the police has arrested the accused in the said murder, but are making efforts to close it as well. The police is doing so at the behest of the political pressure and this becomes conspicuous looking at the debilitated FIR and the relevant statements, alleged SDPI leaders during a press conference held at Mangalore today.
The auto-drivers demanded that the powers behind the murder of Ashraf Kalayi be arrested immediately and adequate compensation be released to the bereaved family of the deceased. The trade union leaders urged for proper security to the auto-drivers. It was said that Ashraf was the sole bread earner in the family.
It is to be noted that, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has been holding protests across the state demanding stringent action against the real culprits who have masterminded a series of murders of innocent Muslim youth in the district. The SDPI’s Mangalore District Unit has urged the State Government and the district administration to arrest the seasoned criminal Kallada Prabhakar Bhatt for his alleged hatred speeches provoking communal tension aimed at dividing communities and rampant murders and communal riots in the coastal area. The SDPI Mangalore has given an ultimatum to the district administration to arrest the seers of hatred Prabhakar Bhatt and Pumpwell before 15th of July 2017, else, the party will hold a massive “KALLADKA CHALO”, along with several dalit and progressive organizations.
Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) State Secretary Akram Hasan and Iqbal Bellary participated in the agitation.
